Story : A Greedy Farmer

Read the beginning of the story. Add at least ten new sentences to complete the story. Give a suitable title to it.

There lived a farmer in a village. He had a wonderful goose. The goose laid an egg of gold every day. The farmer was very greedy. He thought that there ware many eggs in the bally of the goose. He wanted to have all the eggs at a time to become rich overnight. One day, he hit upon a plan that he would kill the goose and get all the eggs of gold from its belly. He told his wife about his plan. His wife who was wise but not greedy said to her husband, “Don’t be greedy. Be happy with what we’ve.” But the farmer did not listen to his wife. He killed the goose with a shark knife. Then he cut open its belly. But alas! He found no eggs in it. Thus the greedy farmer lost his useful goose.

এক গ্রামে এক কৃষক থাকতেন। তার একটি বিস্ময়কর হাঁস ছিল। হাঁস প্রতিদিন একটি করে সোনার ডিম পাড়ে। কৃষক খুব লোভী ছিল। সে ভাবল হংসের বলীতে অনেক ডিম থাকে। তিনি রাতারাতি ধনী হওয়ার জন্য একবারে সমস্ত ডিম পেতে চেয়েছিলেন। একদিন, তিনি একটি পরিকল্পনা করেছিলেন যে তিনি হাঁসটিকে মেরে তার পেট থেকে সমস্ত সোনার ডিম পাবেন। স্ত্রীকে জানালেন তার পরিকল্পনার কথা। তার স্ত্রী যে জ্ঞানী কিন্তু লোভী নয় তার স্বামীকে বলল, “লোভী হয়ো না। আমাদের যা আছে তাতে খুশি হও।" কিন্তু কৃষক তার স্ত্রীর কথা শোনেননি। তিনি হাঙ্গর ছুরি দিয়ে হাঁসটিকে হত্যা করেছিলেন। অতঃপর সে তার পেট কেটে দিল। কিন্তু হায়! এতে তিনি কোনো ডিম পাননি। এইভাবে লোভী কৃষক তার দরকারী হংস হারিয়েছে।

Duty towards humanity

Mr Rahman is a retired officer. Usually, he goes for a walk everyday early in the morning. One day while walking in the morning he saw a man laying senseless by the side of the road. He went nearer to the man and watched carefully. He found that the man was seriously injured. He thought any vehicle would have pushed the man. Then he felt his pulse. He found that the man was still alive. So, he called a CNG autorickshaw and took him to a nearby hospital. There the doctors thanked him because it was about to too late. They tried their utmost and the man got back his sense by the grace of Allah. The man’s relatives being informed by Mr Rahman came to the hospital. The man along with all the members of his family thanked him and prayed for him to the Almighty. Mr Rahman just said that as a human being, it was his duty to help an injured man.

বঙ্গানুবাদ :

জনাব রহমান একজন অবসরপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা। তিনি সাধারণত খুব সকালে প্রতিদিন হাঁটতে যান। একদিন যখন তিনি সকালে হাঁটছিলেন তিনি রাস্তার পাশে অচেতন অবস্থায় একটি লোককে দেখতে পেলেন। তিনি লোকটির কাছে গেলেন এবং সাবধানতার সাথে লক্ষ্য করলেন। তিনি দেখলেন যে, লোকটি মারাত্মকভাবে আহত ছিলেন। তিনি ভাবলেন যে কোনো যানবাহন তাকে ধাক্কা মেরে চলে গেছে। তিনি তখন তার নাড়ী দেখলেন। তিনি দেখতে পেলেন যে লোকটি জীবিত আছে। তাই তিনি একটি সিএনজি অটোরিক্সা ডাকলেন এবং তাকে নিকটস্থ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গেলেন।  সেখানে ডাক্তারগণ তাকে ধন্যবাদ জানালেন। কারণ যদিও একটু দেরি হয়ে গেল। তারা আপ্রাণ চেষ্টার ও আল্লাহর রহমতে লোকটির চৈতন্য ফিলে এল। জনাব রহমানের সংবাদে লোকটির আত্মীয়-স্বজন হাসপাতালে আসল। লোকটি ও তার পরিবারের সকল সদস্যগণ তাকে ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করল এবং তার জন্য আল্লাহর কাছে পার্থনা করল। জনাব রহমান বললেন মানুষ হিসেবে এটা ছিল তার কর্তব্য একজন আহত লোককে সাহায্য করা।
