1. Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow :-- 

It is a general belief that dust is very harmful to us. But this is only one side of the picture. Dust is also very useful to us. But what is dust? How is it formed? Every solid substance is composed of very small particles. When these small particles of matter are scattered, they become dust particles. For example, if we break a brick or a stone into small pieces, it will turn into small particles of dust. (There are different ways by which dust is formed. When solid things break, dust is formed."" Smoke which is generated by the burning of coal, wood, petrol etc also produces dust. Dust particles also come from plants, animal matter, sea salt, desert and ash from volcanoes. These particles that get mixed with air are called dust. Air carries dust particles from one place to another. The particles of the eaith's surface also fly in the air in the form of dust!' The biggest utility of dust particles is that they help in the formation of rain. The water vapours in the clouds condense on dust particles in the form of water drops. These drops fall on the earth as rain. So, if there is no dust particle, rain will come late. Dust also helps to form mist, fog etc. The dust particles which are present in the air, scatter sunrise in all directions. Because of this, there is no complete darkness even long after the sunset. We see red colour in the sky at sunrise and sunset because of dust particles. In this way, we see that the dust particles which are thought to he harmful are often very useful too.

বঙ্গানুবাদ: 

সাধারণে বিশ্বাস যে, ধূলিকণা আমাদের জন্য খুব ক্ষতিকর। কিন্তু এটাতো কল্পনার একদিক মাত্র। ধূলিকণা আমাদের জন্য উপকারীও বটে। কিন্তু ধূলিকণা কী? এটা কিভাবে গঠিত হয়? প্রতিটি কঠিন পদার্থ ক্ষুদ্র কণা দিয়ে গঠিত হয়। যখন এই ক্ষুদ্র কণাগুলো ছড়িয়ে পড়ে তখন সেটা ধূলিকণায় রূপান্তরিত হয়। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, যদি আমরা একটি ইট কিংবা পাথরকে ছোট ছোট টুকরো করে ভাঙ্গি তবে এটা ধূলিকণায় রূপান্তরিত হবে। অনেকভাবে ধূলিকণা গঠিত হয়। যখন কোনো কঠিন পদার্থ ভেঙ্গে যায় তখন ধূলিকণা গঠিত হয়। কয়লা, কাঠ, পেট্রোল ইত্যাদি পুড়িয়ে যখন ধোঁয়া সৃষ্টি করা হয়, তখন ধূলিকণা উৎপন্ন হয়। বৃক্ষ, জীবজন্তু, সামুদ্রিক লবণ, মরুভূমি এবং আগ্নেয়গিরির ভস্ম হতে ধূলির ক্ষুদ্র উপাদান পাওয়া যায়। এসব ক্ষুদ্র উপাদানগুলো যখন বাতাসে মিশে তখন এটাকে ধূলিকণা বলে। এ ক্ষুদ্রকণাগুলো বাতাসে একস্থান থেকে অন্যস্থানে ভেসে বেড়ায়। ধূলির ক্ষুদ্র উপাদানগুলোর সবচেয়ে বড় সুবিধা হলো, এটা বারি বর্ষণে সহযোগিতা করে। মেঘের পানির বাষ্প ধূলির ক্ষুদ্র উপাদানগুলোর সাথে ঘনীভবন হয়ে পানির ফোঁটায় রূপান্তরিত হয়। এসব পানির ফোটা বৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে পৃথিবীতে এসে পড়ে। তাই যেখানে ধূলির উপাদান নেই, সেখানে বৃষ্টির সম্ভাবনা নেই। ধূলি মেঘ, কুয়াশা প্রভৃতি সৃষ্টিতেও সহায়তা করে । ধূলির ক্ষুদ্র উপাদানগুলো বাতাস, সূর্যরশ্মি সবখানেই ছড়িয়ে আছে। এ কারণেই সূর্য ডুবে যাওয়ার পরও দীর্ঘক্ষণ ধরে কোথাও গভীর অন্ধকার নেমে আসে না। সূর্যোদয় ও সূর্যাস্তের সময় আমরা আকাশে রঙিন আভা দেখতে পারি যা ধূলির উপাদানগুলোর কারণ। এভাবেই আমরা দেখতে পারি যে, ধূলির উপাদানগুলো যেগুলোকে আমরা ক্ষতিকর মনে করি, সেগুলো প্রায়ই আমাদের উপকারে আসছে।

3. Suppose, you are a manager of a land developing company. Make an advertisement for the newspaper offering the sale of flats. (মনে কর, তুমি একটি ভূমি উন্নয়ন কোম্পানির একজন ব্যবস্থাপক। ফ্ল্যাট বিক্রি জন্য সংবাদপত্রে প্রকাশের জন্য একটি বিজ্ঞাপন তৈরি কর।)

Or, 

Design a poster creating awareness about the safety of life in roads. 4

4. Write a paragraph on any one of the following: 8

(b) Your Homeland

(c) Adverse effects of Face book

5. Write an application to the Principal of your college for setting up an English debating club. ((CONTO কলেজে একটি ইংরেজি বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতার ক্লাব প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য আবেদন জানিয়ে অধ্যক্ষের বরাবর আবেদন পত্র লিখ।) 8
