If I were the Education Minister

Ans:

Introduction:

We, the human beings, are dreaming every moment. It seems that we are living in a dreamland. If someone fails to reach his goal, he will dream that he one day will catch the success and will fulfl his desire. Though all the dreams do not come true, we always search for better opportunities and better position. I have a dream to be the Minister of Education.

Though it is an impossible wish, really wish to reach that position. If my dream comes true, I would try my best to do some gigantic tasks for the betterment of the country.

My activities as a Education Minister:

If I were an Education Minister, would done the following activities:

(i) Problems of education are to be found out:

It is universally recognized that education is the backbone of a nation. Education can lead a country along the right track. The development of a nation fully depends on those people who are educated. I have decided that firstly, will find out the weak points from the system of education.

If were a Minister of Education, would root out the corruption in education. In every sectors of educational system, I will give a deep look so that the problems can be solved easily.

(ii) Improvement of teachers:

Teachers are called the nation builders. If they lag behind, the wheel of development in the sector of education will not run. It was my dream to give the teachers many more opportunities both academically and economically.

If they are well paid, they will teach the students very carefully. would try my best to improve and update teacher's educational attainment/acquired by conducting continuous professional education. I would make free training courses for the teachers so that they could be more assertive in teaching the students.

(iii) Modern facilities:

If I were a Minister of Education, I would provide all the modern equipments to all the educational institutions so that the students can make themselves up-to-date. The updated journals, periodicals, books etc. were to be given in the hands of students.

Especially, the students of rural areas do not get enough materials for learning. If were a Minister of Education, would take special care of them.

(iv) Revise obsolete curriculam:

The development of education depends on the curriculam as most of the students learn according to the syllabus given by the Ministry of Education. Therefore all curriculam should be based on the latest trend in education.

I would incorporate various schemes or teaching methods. would include the topics in the curriculam measuring the students' knowledge and skill, as global education. This would ensure global competitiveness of the students.

(v) Revise examination format:

Examination is a scale through which one can measure a students' skill and knowledge. So it should be updated and fruitful to the students. Instead of just the usual type of exams with obvious answers at times, questionnaires should require students to think critically for the best answer and should be able to expand the answer.

(vi) Education for every child:

Bangladesh is a developing country and most of the people are living below he poverty line. The poor parents are not able to send their sons or daughters to the school. If I were a Minister of Education, I would provide subisdes, scholarships, grants and other options for the poor students so that they could build up a liking for education.

(vii) Computer in education:

In the competitive world, the students of Bangladesh are lagging behind as they fail to cope with the advancement of science and teachnology with the first world countries. The use of computer in education can help us in this sector.

If were the Minister of Education, would make computer education compulsory. I would provide more than ten computers in every school.

Conclusion:

I would try my best to do all the best for the betterment of educational sector if were the Minister of Education. In a country, like ours, where the rate of illiteracy is still high, shall try to check school drop-outs and make education free for all till university level. I would try to do everything to make the people literate, happy as well as prosperous.
