A Book Fair I have Visited

A book fair is
a place where various kinds of books are brought for sale and display. It is a
very popular fair. In fact, a book fair is considered to be an occasion of
great festivity to the book-lovers. It is usually held in the winter season on
an open place in most of the major cities of the country. The main thing about
a book fair is not sale but display of books on different subjects. It is
organized by various institutions on various occasions, namely, Martyrs Day,
Victory Day, Independence Day etc. Recently I visited a book fair at Bangla
Academy premises. Actually, it is an annual function and Bangla Academy
authorities arrange the fair in memory of the language martyrs. It is termed as
"Amor Ekushey Boi Mela." Whenever I entered the mela premises, I was
really glad at the calm and quiet environment. I bought some books of varied
interests. Though it was brimming with people, there was no chaotic situation.
I saw book lovers humming in the stalls without any trouble. According to my
list I collected some valuable books without any hazard. The decoration  of the premises also pleased me very much. I
was really fortunate as I met some eminent writers of our country and I took
autographs from them. Actually, I was really happy at the fair and I hope it
will uphold our culture in the arena of world literature.

আমি একটি বইমেলা পরিদর্শন করেছি

বইমেলা হল এমন একটি জায়গা যেখানে বিভিন্ন ধরনের
বই বিক্রি ও প্রদর্শনের জন্য আনা হয়। এটি একটি খুব জনপ্রিয় মেলা। প্রকৃতপক্ষে,
একটি বইমেলা বইপ্রেমীদের জন্য
একটি মহান উত্সব হিসাবে বিবেচিত হয়। এটি সাধারণত শীত মৌসুমে দেশের বেশিরভাগ প্রধান
শহরে খোলা জায়গায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। বইমেলার মূল বিষয় হল বিক্রি নয়, বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের বই প্রদর্শন। শহীদ দিবস,
বিজয় দিবস, স্বাধীনতা দিবস ইত্যাদি উপলক্ষে বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠান
বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে। সম্প্রতি আমি বাংলা একাডেমি প্রাঙ্গণে একটি বইমেলায়
গিয়েছিলাম। আসলে এটি একটি বার্ষিক অনুষ্ঠান এবং বাংলা একাডেমি কর্তৃপক্ষ ভাষা শহীদদের
স্মরণে মেলার আয়োজন করে। একে বলা হয় ‘আমোর একুশে বৌয়ের মেলা’। যখনই মেলা প্রাঙ্গণে
প্রবেশ করতাম, শান্ত ও নিরিবিলি
পরিবেশে সত্যিই আনন্দিত হতাম। আমি বিভিন্ন আগ্রহের কিছু বই কিনলাম। লোকজনের ভিড় থাকলেও
কোনো বিশৃঙ্খল পরিস্থিতি ছিল না। দেখলাম বইপ্রেমীরা কোনো ঝামেলা ছাড়াই স্টলে গুনগুন
করছে। আমার তালিকা অনুযায়ী আমি কিছু মূল্যবান বই সংগ্রহ করেছিলাম কোনো রকম ঝুঁকি ছাড়াই।
প্রাঙ্গণের সজ্জাও আমাকে খুব খুশি করেছিল। আমি সত্যিই ভাগ্যবান ছিলাম কারণ আমি আমাদের
দেশের কয়েকজন বিশিষ্ট লেখকের সাথে দেখা করেছি এবং আমি তাদের কাছ থেকে অটোগ্রাফ নিয়েছি।
প্রকৃতপক্ষে, আমি মেলায় সত্যিই
খুশি হয়েছিলাম এবং আমি আশা করি এটি বিশ্ব সাহিত্যের অঙ্গনে আমাদের সংস্কৃতিকে সমুন্নত
রাখবে।

A Book Fair 

All kinds of fairs are mainly organized to display products as well as to create demands in the market for those products. A book fair is such an attractive fair where books are displayed. In our country many book fairs are usually held in many places. Among them. two fairs are important. One is 'Ekushey Boi Mela' held in the premises of Bangla Academy and the other is 'Dhaka Boi Mela'. Although book fairs in our country are of recent origin. they are gradually gaining popularities. I often go to a book fair which is decorated with various type of colourful lightings. Books of various types are sold in a book fair. Among them novels, critique, story and poems books are mentionable. Besides books, articles like cassettes, view cards, calendars, and posters are sold in a book fair. I am very fond of books. So, whenever, I get a chance to visit a book fair, I do not hesitate to take it. The importance of arranging book fairs cannot be denied in the true sense of term.

প্রধানত কোনো পণ্যের প্রচারের পাশাপাশি বাজারে এর চাহিদা তৈরি করার উদ্দেশ্যে সব ধরনের মেলা আয়োজন করা হয় । বইমেলা তদ্রুপ একটি আকর্ষণীয় মেলা যেখানে অনেক বই প্রদর্শিত হয়ে থাকে। আমাদের দেশে বিভিন্ন জায়গায় সাধারণত বইমেলার আয়োজন করা হয়ে থাকে। সেগুলোর মধ্যে দুটি মেলা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। একটি 'একুশে বইমেলা' যেটা বাংলা একাডেমী চত্বরে আয়োজন করা হয় এবং 'অন্যটি ঢাকা বইমেলা'। আমাদের দেশে বইমেলা সাম্প্রতিক আয়োজন হলেও দিনে দিনে এর জনপ্রিয়তা বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। আমি প্রায়ই বইমেলায় যাই যেটা বিভিন্ন আলোয় সজ্জিত থাকে। বইমেলায় বিভিন্ন রকমের বই বিক্রি হয়। তার মধ্যে উপন্যাস, সমালোচনামূলক বুই, কবিতা ও গল্পের বই উল্লেখযোগ্য। বইমেলায় বই এর পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন উপকরণ যেমন ক্যাসেট, ভিউকার্ড, ক্যালেন্ডার ও পোস্টার প্রভৃতি বিক্রি হয়ে থাকে। আমি বই খুব পছন্দ করি। সুতরাং যখনই বইমেলায় যাওয়ার সুযোগ পাই তখন সেই সুযোগটা গ্রহণ করতে দ্বিধা করি না। সত্যিকার অর্থে বইমেলা আয়োজনের গুরুত্বকে অস্বীকার করা যায় না।
