Ans: 
Yes, I think so. The second version is more interesting and meaningful because it describes the village by comparing it with many things. These comparisons allow readers to paint a picture (of the village) in their minds. For example, "as refreshing as the gentle morning breeze" and "as busy as bees." These additions have made the narrative more vivid and appealing.
